Die baugenossenschaftliche Wohnsiedlung in der Otto-Richter-Straße in Magdeburg wurde von 1904 bis 1916 nach den Grundsätzen des Neuen Bauens gebaut. Als Bruno Taut 1921 zum Stadtbaudirektor von Magdeburg berufen wurde, ging er sogleich daran, sein Konzept der Bunten Stadt - Farbe ist Lebensfreude – umzusetzen. Die Otto-Richter-Straße wurde 1922/1923 nach Entwürfen von Carl Krayl farbig gestaltet. Zu Beginn der 2000er Jahre wurden die bunten Fassaden originalgetreu restauriert. - The cooperative housing estate in Otto-Richter-Strasse in Magdeburg was built from 1904 to 1916 according to the principles of Neues Bauen. In 1921, the architect Bruno Taut was appointed city planning director of Magdeburg. He immediately set about implementing his concept of the colourfully city - colour is joy of living. The street was coloured designed by Carl Krayl in 1922/1923. At the beginning of the 2000s, the colourful facades were restored true to the original.
