Mudejar decorations in the Patio de las Doncellas (Courtyard of the Maidens) from Peter the first Palace in the Royal Alcazars (Reales Alcazares) of Seville, Spain. Mudejar Style in architecture and decoration was born in 12th century after Christian Reconquista. The word Mudejar refers to Muslims who submitted to the rule of the Christian kings but not to their religion. This style is the expression of Muslim and Christian cultures living side by side.
