„Sternstunden – Wunder des Sonnensystems" ist eine Ausstellung im Gasometer in Oberhausen und als Projekt der Kulturhauptstadt RUHR.2010 bis zum 30. Dezember 2010 geoeffnet. Die Ausstellung ist eine Zusammenarbeit des Gasometer Oberhausen und des Deutschen Zentrums für Luft- und Raumfahrt, abgekuerzt DLR. Sie nimmt ihre Besucher mit auf eine Reise in den Kosmos. Der Gasometer in Oberhausen wurde 1929 als Gas Zwischenspeicher erbaut. Er wurde 1988 stillgelegt und von 1993-94 durch die Initiative der IBA (Internationale Bauausstellung Emscher Park) zur groessten und wohl aussergewoehnlichsten Ausstellungshalle Europas umgebaut. Von seinem 117 Meter hohen Dach erlebt man einen grandiosen Blick auf das gesamte westliche Ruhrgebiet. Nachts ist der Gasometer spektakulaer beleuchtet und ein weithin sichtbares Wahrzeichen fuer das neue Ruhrgebiet. Er liegt in unmittelbarer Naehe zum Rhein Herne Kanal und zur Emscher. Zusammen mit dem Einkaufs- und Verguegungszentrum CentrO gehoert der Gasometer zu den Ankerpunkten der Route Industriekultur im Ruhrgebiet sowie der Europaeischen Route der Industriekultur ERIH.
