Description

1926 und 1927 wurde das Gaer- und Lagerhaus der Dortmunder Union Bierbrauerei erbaut. Das Firmenlogo, das Dortmunder U, prangt seit 1968 auf dem Dach des denkmalgeschuetzten Gebaeudes. Auch nach Umbaumassnahmen im Rahmen des Strukturwandels bleibt es als ein Wahrzeichen der Stadt Dortmund weiterhin erhalten. Im Kulturhauptstadtjahr RUHR.2010 ist hier das Zentrum fuer Kreativwirtschaft im und um das U herum entstanden. Seit Oktober 2010 ist auch das Museum am Ostwall mit einer Neupraesentation eingezogen. Unter dem U ist aussen in der Station Dachkrone die U-Turm Bilderuhr von Adolf Winkelmann mit filmischen Sequenzen taeglich von von 6:00 Uhr morgens bis Mitternacht zu sehen.
