Description
Aachen Cathedral also known as Imperial Cathedral or Royal Church of St. Mary at Aachen, was consecrated in 805 by Pope Leo III in honour of the Virgin Mary. In this place 30 german kings were crowned. Charlemagne, around year 792, made the Palatine Chapel constructed and around it the rest of the cathedral was erected. After his death, in 814, the carolingian Emperor was buried in the Cathedral.
